'DWTS' Recap: Kristin Cavallari Sent Packing, Kristin Cavallari has been a more than solid performer this season, so it was shocking to see her sent home in the third week of competition. The announcement was met with boos from the crowd. Kristin's only comment: "It is what it is." Even Tom Bergeron seemed surprised by the results. Mark talked about what a great dance partner Kristin was, and how much he enjoyed working with her.
J.R. Martinez
J.R.'s rumba had much of the audience -- and at least one of the judges -- in tears. It was tough but vulnerable, and a great performance any way you look at it. J.R.'s footwork was excellent, and he held some tight pivots! When it comes to the men in this competition, J.R.'s in a class by himself.
Ricki Lake
Ricki's breathtaking rumba was the best dance of the season so far. The routine was so moving that Bruno said, "Every step was as expressive as a poem." Wowza! This was Ricki's second week in a row at the top of the leaderboard, and I'm not sure I see her budging next week.
Chaz Bono
The judges had a tough time coming to terms about Chaz's rumba. Carrie Ann thought it was slow and awkward, but Len said it was his best dance yet. Even though Chaz was a bit heavy on his feet, his emotion definitely showed through -- it was a moving performance.
Rob Kardashian
His Rat Pack-inspired foxtrot was better than a kick in the head: His footwork was much improved, and his performance quality has gone way, way up. Rob's come a long way in a short time -- let's hope he sticks around a bit longer.
Nancy Grace
Nancy's waltz was graceful and, like last week's quickstep, basic but good. She was very caught up in the music, and it gave the dance gravity. Her footwork was good, and she and Tristan moved well together. Len did knock Nancy for her posture, but Carrie Ann praised the emotional content of the routine.
Chynna Phillips
The Wilson Phillips singer danced a gorgeous rumba to the band's hit song "Hold On," and it was the judges' choice for this week's encore performance. The routine was vulnerable and moving, but Chynna also pulled off some impressive turns and backbends! She's really a force to be reckoned with in this competition.
David Arquette
David's rumba was a surprise! He pulled off some nice spins with Kym and was taut and balanced throughout the routine. The judges were moved by the feeling he put into the dance and praised David for his improvement over previous weeks. Let's hope he can keep the momentum going.
Carson Kressley
Carson's tight, expressive tango was a breakthrough performance. He toned down his energy to just the right level, and his footwork was better than in both of his earlier routines. Bruno called the dance "insanely brilliant." Let's hope he does as well next week.
Hope Solo
Hope's über-sexy cha-cha showed us a different side of her! She did make a few missteps, but her energy on the floor was the best it's ever been. Maybe Maks needs to keep up with the wild choreography to bring Hope more fully out of her shell.
